Courses allow people with no clinical training to assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. It provides skills and knowledge to offer effective first aid intervention until adequate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

- Training improves knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments, and appropriate first aid strategies, as well as confidence in providing first aid. It also decreases stigmatising attitudes.
