Social entrepreneur elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2012. iMentor is a beneficiary of the Social Innovation Fund (SIF), designed to identify and expand effective solutions for the most critical challenges in the United States. iMentor was honoured at a White House reception during National Mentoring Month (January 2010).

Personalised support for students through the development of a strong relationship with a mentor. A determining factor in its success is to give students a say in the selection of their mentor, and in the design of activities in order to establish a level of openness between the two so they can talk comfortably about failures and challenges.

Impact indicators
  • More than 11,000 students nationwide have been paired with mentors since 1999.
  • iMentor is focused on New York, where in the 2012-2013 academic year it paired 2,400 students with university mentors, and in 2014 it has achieved the figure of 3,000 students.
  • 85% of the students report that their mentor is someone they they can trust.
  • More than 14 organisations in 11 states are currently associated with iMentor in order to run high quality mentoring programmes.
